How do you eat a peanut butter cup?

Lilly was explaining to Mike the other day how she eats a peanut butter cup:
"You unwrap it, then you see it, then you smile."

Sounds like a good way to eat peanut butter cups to me :)
Lilly always has to unwrap her peanut butter cups at the garbage can too. She doesn't want to leave the wrappers laying around, I know I have such a good little girl.

Funny Things Lilly says

I wanted to record some of the cute things Lilly has been doing lately, so why not post them on our blog :)

The other day I was reminding Lilly that she might want to go potty and she asks me "Mommy, why do people have to go potty?" I was pretty impressed with the question, but wasn't quite sure how to explain it on a 3-year old level. I explained that it's just the water and drinks that our body's aren't going to use for energy. She seemed to understand that.

Lately Lilly has been talking in character voices. When she is playing with her firefighter she'll make her voice go really low, it's so cute. Also, when she is explaining something to Mike that I have told her she will raise her voice to a high tone. I had no idea I sounded like that :)

We were playing outside last week in Lilly's sand and pretending to be pirates. Lilly does a great pirate voice :) She even will throw in a Matty and an Arrrr every once in a while.

One of the best voices Lilly does is her robot voice. It's monotone and sounds like a robot - very funny. I'll have to try and get some of her characters on video to post.

Lilly continues to be the FRIENDLIEST Girl ever. She says hi to everyone, ask's them what there name is and lately has been asking what their favorite color is. If they say pink, she is in heaven :) and makes sure to tell them that is her favorite color too, and mommy's. She's always really disapointed if people don't answer her when she asks them things, but she continues to be outgoing and doesn't let the antisocial stranger :) get her down for too long.

We've been busy!

It's been a while since my last post, we have been pretty busy. Mike is taking 4 classes, three are art classes that require him to create and spend lots of time in the studio. But we still manage to spend quality time as a family. It's so important to us to be able to have fun and unwind together. Mike is a GREAT Cook and is always making special treats and dinners for Lilly and I. Mike made us butterfinger blizzards, and Lilly LOVED it. She got to have the first taste and was hooked.
This picture Mike is pretending to be a robot :) Lilly loves robots for some reason... We went to the Walter Wick exhibit, it was AWESOME! If you like his I Spy books, you'll love this exhibit. Displayed are actual models that were created for the books - so cool to see how it all comes together. Walter Wick has an amazing creative mind and it was fun to see Lilly step into his world for a while. I deffiantly would like to purchase more of his books. He kind of like the old Where's Waldo, but so much more. We LOVE Walter Wick, maybe someday Mike will work for him..... (a girl can dream, right) :)
The weather has been super nice so we've been spending 90% of our time outside in our backyard. I love our backyard. It's big, the grass is green and it's a nice oasis from the real world. I cleanned up Lilly's picnic table and we've been having picnic's, playing in sand and rocks, and using our imaginations. I really am lucky to be able to spend my days at home with Lilly. Being a mother is such a joy. We transplanted our bean plants from the greenhouse to outside. The probably wont make it, but they were overtaking the entire greenhouse. So we had fun planting them and playing in the dirt. Mike decided to read Lilly all of our library books one evening and Lilly was so tired she fell asleep while listening. I think she's had a busy week :)

Adoption Video Profile

video

It's been awhile since we updated our adoption profile. I thought it would be cool to do it video style. It was a lot of fun to go through all of our pictures and pick out a few (4 minutes worth) that represent us as individuals and as a family. It took me a 'few' hours to put this video together. I hope you like it :)

Things that make me happy!

Lately, I've been trying really hard to look at life with the glass half full. So I thought I would share a few things that are filling my life with joy.
The new U2 Album, it's cool and different and well U2 is my favorite
4-day weekend, yay!
Our green house works! (picture below)
It snowed, but it melted the next day
feeling the burn in my abs after a good workout
Crystal Light singles, they help me drink lots of water
Lilly counting her pennies in spanish
Random Christmas songs in my playlist
A guy dressed up like Super Mario in front of Domino's Pizza
Dr. V. made cheesecake for us last night
Dr. B. made cookies for us last night
That Mike likes to listen to Ashley Simpson and isn't ashamed to admit it (I like her too)
I had time to tune my guitar the other day
Lilly can spell her name, MOM and DAD
That my best girlfriend is getting married and get's to make more babies (go J-bird!)
My new computer monitor, it's big and widescreen
I'm all caught up with the episodes of Ugly Betty (I watched them on my new computer monitor)
Lilly making nests
Mike just calling from school to say I love you
Left over BBQ Hotdogs

I know random stuff, but that's me - I'm pretty random.

A couple of weeks ago my friend and I were talking and she mentioned that she heard a talk at church and it really touched her and she shared it with me. (this is my memories version) A wife was miserable she had just moved to a strange place, had a new baby and her husband was extremely busy at his new job. She felt all alone and missed everything she moved away from. Her husband found her crying one day and asked what was wrong. He just couldn't comprehend why she would be sad.... she explained to him how alone and depressed she was. He gave her this council: These are the times in our lives we will look back on and laugh, let's try and make good memories and be able when we are older to be able to say we experienced great joy through our trials.

I loved this, I want to make good happy memories of my family's life right now. Like this couple, Mike and I moved away from everything and are living a very active life. But the moments that we are together are so happy and I am so glad to be able to look back and laugh, and my heart is full. I am so glad that we are able to have our own little adventure.

Button, Button Who's got the button?

WE DO! Mike designed a button, the best part is you can add it to your blog too. This is another way for us to get our family out there and for our friends and family to help us find our next baby.
All you need to do is copy the code and add it in your html section of your blog.
Here's how you do it:
1. From your blogger dashboard go to layout/page elements.
2. Click on Add Gadget
3. Click on Add HTML/JavaScript
4. Paste our HTML code into the content section (you can find the HTML code on our sidebar right under our button)
5. Save
6. Now within the page elements section you can move our button to where you want it to appear on your sidebar in your blog.
7. Yay! You are now helping us adopt! THANK YOU!

Arches! PICTURES!

To celebrate our anniversary we went to Arches National Park! It was a lot of fun. Like Mike and I, Lilly LOVES hiking. It's so great to be able to all doing something together that everyone is excited about. Although, I think we need to invest in a new hiking backpack to carry Lilly in, the one we have is almost too small for her. I just think the coloring in this picture is really cool! It was getting to be dusk and the lighting was incredible with all the red rock. Family Picture! It was pretty windy, but still in the low 50's it was nice just wearing a jacket and being able to enjoy being outside. I was a little worried that the weather would be bad, it was snowing in the pass we had to drive through to get to Arches, but once we got down into the valley the snow disappeared. We went on a Primitive trail and it felt like we had the entire park to ourselves, it was great! It was probably a 4 mile loop and Lilly hiked almost all of it! After it got too dark to see more of the park we headed into Moab for some dinner. After dinner Lilly said she wanted to go hiking some more! What a little adventure girl! Arches was beautiful! It was a fun retreat and a great way to celebrate our anniversary. We are defiantly going to go back and see more.
