Foto Friday

I know I've been slacking a little bit on the 'Foto Friday' I'll try to do better :) To make up for it I'll post a bunch of fun random pictures taken this month.
I found Lilly in her room. This outfit says it all, she is a total girl, but also LOVES her tools. She is a little tinker fairy princess.
Lilly snatched up my camera the other day and took a picture of me, not too bad. (I actually think she takes better pictures than I do)This picture is a true testament at how gentle Bryn is, she will let Lilly do anything to her, even sit on her :) What a good doggy.I used to think Lilly was ambidextrous, but now I think she is quadibextrous :) :) Lilly LOVES to pop popcorn in our new airpopper, for some reason she thinks it's one of the coolest things ever. I like it too, it's healthier and kind of like using a power tool in the kitchen :)
I actually posted two times today, so don't miss the post under this one.

Temple Open House

Today we got to go to the Draper Temple open house for our Family Home Evening. I was very excited to be able to bring Lilly into a temple again. The last room on our tour was the sealing room, a temple worker spoke to us about the temple and then asked everyone to sit for a minute and ponder the feelings that you were having while in the room. I was so grateful to be able to have Lilly sitting on my lap (playing with my necklace quietly)and my sweet husband sitting by me holding my hand. I love my little family and am eternally humbled at how my family came to be together forever. Lilly really enjoyed riding up to the temple from the church building parking lot in a bus! I wanted to get some cute family pictures outside on the temple grounds, but they weren't allowing pictures inside or out, so I snapped a quick one of Lilly in the church after we exited the temple. There was a nice display in the cultural hall at the church next to the temple. They also were serving cookies! Lilly of course had a chocolate one, she loves her chocolate. Just for fun, here is one of my favorite pictures taken of our family. It was our special sealing day at the Seattle temple.

Family Home Evening

Since our schedules are so different than the average family we decided to start doing family home evenings on Friday's. Yesterday was our first one and we had a total blast! Mike and I really enjoy art and the local Museum's current exhibit was pretty cool. Luckily enough the artist that is exhibiting came and presented in one of Mike's art seminar classes. So Mike knew all about the artist and the pieces that were displayed.

The artist is Dan Steinhilber and his work is very fun for your imagination. Some of the pieces displayed were huge and so cool to look at. There was one piece that was made entirely out of balloons, a gigantic hanging sculpture made out of hangers, styrofoam everywhere and some really neat things done with florescent light bulbs. You are not allowed to take photos of the art, so we didn't get any pictures inside but you can always look him up online :) The entire family loved this exhibit, Lilly really like the room filled with fans blowing styrofoam in a huge pile around, so fun. One of the permanent exhibits is religious art so we told Lilly a few stories to go along with the paintings and felt like that was a good start to the religious aspect of family home evening.

After looking in the museum for awhile we decided to try and take some pictures outside, it was pretty dark, but we tried anyways :) After that we went out for ice cream at Cold Stone! It was Lilly's first time at coldstone and she asked for chocolate ice cream. Lilly really loves chocolate anything, so I was pretty sure she would want that :) Lilly actually ate more icecream than I did too :) It was a really fun Friday night, we all enjoyed our time with each other and are looking forward to next Friday family night.

Foto Friday - Cabelas!

A couple of weeks ago we got to watch Jaimason for an evening. We love this little guy and Lilly LOVES him so much, he is a blast. We decided to take the kids to Cabelas for a fun adventure. Lilly and Jaimason held hands almost the entire time and really enjoyed the fish tank and looking at all of the other animals they have displayed.
I think Cabelas is one of Lilly's favorite place to go. Everytime we drive by it on the freeway she asks to go and everytime we drive by a building that kind of resembles it she wants to go inside :)

Lilly's Birthday Party Adventure!

Mike and I had a lot of fun planning for Lilly's birthday party this year. We also made sure to include Lilly in helping us prepare for the games. We did three activities this year.
I had the kids color backpack and glue onto a brown lunch sack. This activity was mainly to give the kids something to put their loot in from the Pinata! We played pin the tail on swipper(Lilly got to help color the tails for the Swipper game)
The highlight was the pinata! Mike and Lilly started making the Dora pinata on New Years Eve and I think we are going to make one every year for Lilly's party. It was so fun and we got to 'share' our left over Christmas candy.Mike and Lilly got to pop the balloon after everything was dry!Next was the painting of the pinata! We cut a hole in the pinata and filled it up with prizes and candy! Then we had to patch it up and do some finishing touches. The finished Dora Pinata! Lilly and Mike brought out the Pinata! All of the kids were soooooo excited to take a swing at Dora! After all the games we had cake and icecream and Lilly finally got to open her presents! She was so excited and was really happy with all the fun things she recieved. We decided to make our own cake this year and I AM SOOOOO HAPPY with how it turned out! it's really nice having an artist for a husband :) I did the words, eyebrows and all the purple stuff and Mike did the eyes and mouths and cutting of the cake to make it look like backpack. (he is so awesome) I love homemade cakes, they taste better and are really so special. I think we will deffiantly give it a try again next year... Here's the people that made it all happen :) the Party Crew! I think we make a pretty good team and throw an awesome party!

Lilly Bug Turns 3 Today!

I can hardly believe that our little baby girl is three years old today!

Lilly was such an awesome suprise to Mike and I and she continues to suprise us and brighten our lives.

We had a really fun day today celebrating Lilly bug. This morning while Mike was at school Lilly and I made cupcakes and I let Lilly take an extra long bath because she LOVES to play in the water. After bathtime we had hot chocolate with whip cream on top. :) Mike came home and we sang happy birthday to her and ate cupcakes, well Lilly just licked all the frosting off and kept asking for another muffin :) Lilly got to open a ton of presents from family that we got in the mail and presents from Mike & I. Lilly LOVES to help daddy and use his tools so we got her very own tools to use now, and she is in heaven! Lilly also enjoys anything art/crafty and Lilly's Aunt & Uncle D. (and cousins) gave Lilly this awesome tracing projector.

We played with Lilly's new toys for a little bit and then went out to lunch at McDonalds. After lunch we went to Lilly's very first movie in the theature! We saw Bolt and it was really cute, Lilly had a blast and ate an entire box of rasinettes. After the movie we went back home and played with Lilly's new playdough from uncle Dan, now Lilly has 4 different playdough sets! I need to get her a big storage container to keep it all in. Of course Lilly played more with her tools too.It was a fun day and we are excited for her Birthday party on Saturday. Mike and Lilly started a special project for the party on New Years Eve and I think we are going to make it a tradition. They are making a Pinata! It's so cute and I will post pictures of the process after the party on Saturday. I want it to be a suprise for Lilly's guests, so I'm going to wait until then.

Happy birthday Lilly Bug, we are so happy to be your Mommy and Daddy. You are our little silly girl and you've brought such great joy to our lives ever since the day we met you. We love you!

Chh Chh Chhanges for 2009!

I've been thinking the past week that I need to sit down and write down a few goals/plans that I have for 2009.
1. Loose weight and start exercising regularly
2. Cut wayyyyy back on pop
3. Drink more water
4. Do things to show my husband that I love him and appreciate everything he does for me & Lilly.
5. Be a better, more patient parent. Try implementing a gentle parenting style.
6. finish the two quilts I've been working on for the past 3 years
7. Try not to let my infertillity get me down, be patient.
8. Spend Less money
9. Find new creative ways to market my family for potential birthparents.
10. Pray more
11. Get more organized (there's always room for more organization) :)
12. Learn to play a new song on the guitar
13. Go hiking this summer
14. Do creative things with Lilly
15. Go on fun adventures and enjoy my child and family to the fullest

Some of these are little silly and vauge, but they are all things I want to do. I'm going to write them on the white board in our home office so I don't forget them. I guess my main goal for this year and years to come is to be the best person, mother, wife I can be and strive to live happily ever after.

It's a new year!

I had to work New Years Eve this year, but Mike and Lilly had a fun night, they celebrated along with pre-recorded Australia :) So Lilly was in bed by 9:00. :) They had apple cider in fancy cups and I made them carmel popcorn before I left for work that night. I am excited for the New Year, hopefully great things will happen this year. One really cool thing that happens in January is Lilly's birthday! I can't believe she is going to be three years old in less than a week. She is getting so grown up and is such a darling, funny, beautiful little girl.

We are starting out the New Year healthy and happy. Mike is excited to continue with his schooling he should be done in the summer of 2010! So only a year and half left to be the oldest college student on campus (just kidding). I am so happy that Mike is doing what he loves, he is using the great gift that he has been given and that is just awesome. Not many people get to pursue their dream career, and have it come so naturally to them. I meantioned a few posts back that Mike's latest artwork was displayed in the student gallery. The professor chose ALL of Mike's submitted pieces (4) and each professor can only choose 6 from each class!

Here is Lilly standing under three of the four of Mike's works displayed at the student gallery and the other is Lilly helping Mike find where his artwork was displayed. It was only a few days after his surgery so Lilly got to help him. I am so proud of Mike! The three that belong to Mike are starting from the red one over to the white backed one. I didn't take a good picture of the fourth piece, I'll have to talk Mike into posting quality photo's of his current pieces :) so that you can see them all.
Lilly is still really loving all of her new Christmas presents she especially likes the Drs kit, though. Mike and Lilly took down all of the Christmas decorations one night while I was at work. Mike snapped this adorable picture of Lilly treating our snowman.
My best wishes to all for 2009!
