December 6, 2006: I can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner! This year has been the fastest year ever... I was thinking that this time last year Mike and I had been officially waiting with LDS Family Services for only a month and were totally dreading the 'up to 2-year' wait we were warned about. I remember talking to Mike about how anxious I was feeling and not knowing why - we decided to just take the next 9-months and pretend that we were 'expecting' this meant buying non-gender specific baby things and keeping our hopes high. Of course all of this seemed to be needless preparation wasn't in vain, but all I can say is WOW! When I received the phone call that a little baby GIRL had been born and we are to be her PARENTS I about screamed, actually I think I might of. (Angie was with me, so she might remember) I remember feeling relieved that our Lilly had joined us so quickly, I was so nervous, scared, anxious for the moment I was able to hold her and call her my own. I called Mike and told him that a little girl had been born and her name was Lilly and he was like sooooooooo what does this mean? I specifically remember telling him "You are a Dad!" We are all surrounded by little miracles every second of every day, I give thanks to Lilly's birth mother for her choice to pick US. Lilly is the light, the shining star of my life - she makes me want to wake up in the morning and that is quite a feet since I am NOT a morning person at all. I hear her talking in her crib and it just makes me smile and happy and thank Heavenly Father for blessing us with so much joy. Lilly has so many special talents, she is very likeable, friendly, happy, snuggly, opinionated, strong (her legs at least), strong in spirit, she has a love for music and dance. Her eyebrows tell you exactly what she is thinking and she knows when to laugh. I could go on and on, but I won't tonight :) I just wanted to take a few minutes and express my eternal love and gratefulness for Lilly.

Lilly is really starting to get a HUGE interest in walking, she could walk all day holding my hands, she loves the freedom of going where she wants to go. Yesterday I took her out in the front yard and she just walk around in a circle for about 5-minutes until I got dizzy and change her path.

Go Lilly GO!

Lilly just discovered her walker that Aunt Shelly gave to her, she loves this thing, although she hasn't figured out the steering yet, so I am constantly re-routing, but still she is walking! Now we just need to teach her how to pull up on things so I don't have to stand her up.

November 20, 2006: By popular demand I am updating :) Lilly is changing and growing so much, she just keeps getting cuter and funnier. Her personality is really starting to shine. She is such a happy girl and rarely cries, just the other day a lady at the grocery store commented on what a good girl Lilly is. She was sitting in the cart surrounded by soda and not minding at all, but I had no other place to put the soda so I crammed them next to Lilly :) She thought it was cool.

Lilly still really enjoys reading and I have to hide her books or else we would read "Go Dog Go" all day long... she spies her books starts laughing because she is so excited to read them, it's really cute. But if we don't read them then the disappointment sinks in and Lilly will cry, which isn't so cute.  Lilly is also really getting into feeding herself, tonight she had taco meat for dinner just like Mom and Dad. She LOOOOOVED it and refused to eat any of her baby food after I gave her a taste of the good stuff :) So Lilly had cheese and taco meat for dinner tonight with no complaints. Also Lilly's favorite food lately is frozen peas and of course cheerios, but man she gobbles up those peas like crazy. I am glad she likes peas, though... now I have someone to eat them with since Mike doesn't like peas :) Yay!

Lilly stood on her own this weekend for 8 seconds! Mike commented that now she can be a bull rider with the 8 seconds mastered. I am excited to see her get mobile, she is just such a content baby and hasn't felt the need to move around. She will just sit happily and rotate around and around on her bum to get to things. She will also stretch her little body as far as it will go to grab things but never far enough that she will fall on her belly. I have finally come to terms that Lilly will probably never crawl, and that's ok... as long as she someday walks :)

Look at Lilly standing!!!!!!!!

And.... just for kicks!

Don't worry... the coke wasn't open :) But she sure did enjoy sucking on the cold can.... I was trying to get Lilly to say coke :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I sure do have a lot to be thankful for this year! Many of my dreams have come true.

October 12, 2006: Lilly had her 9-month appointment this week and she has grown so much! She now weighs 15lbs 12ozs and is 28 inches long. She is tall and lean and happy and very content. Lilly had the opportunity to be watched for a few hours on Monday be her Aunt Shelly. She LOVED IT! Lilly watched her cousin Owen the entire time and was so tired when we got home she went to bed at 6:30 PM and slept the entire night through.

Lilly has been making lots of fun noises lately, she has been saying dada and mama and also squealing and screeching at the top of her lungs when she is really excited and happy. She is defiantly a girl, they are always so squealy. Her new favorite game to play is "I'm gonna get you" where Daddy holds Lilly and they come and tickle Mom. Lilly really gets to yelling and laughing when Mom gets them back :)

October 5, 2006: I am really enjoying being a stay at home mom. I have so much more time now to do things for Lilly, I finally added things to her baby book and also completely filled a photo album! Maybe I will finish the quilt I started a year ago for our future baby to be.  Things are going really good now that everyone is healthy. I am getting excited for the holidays to come, it will be great to have our first Thanksgiving & Christmas as parents. Lilly is already 'in training' for Thanksgiving. Last night she had a taste of squash from our garden and she LOVED it! Now she needs to just get a little bigger so she can try stuffing, my all-time favorite Thanksgiving food. Who cares about the Turkey, it's all about the side dishes for me :)

Lilly has her 9-month appointment next week, I am excited to see how much she has grown since July, she defiantly feels a lot heavier. Lilly has been blowing raspberries lately when she is eating, not very good table manners. She did it to Mike the other night and it was sooooooo hard not to laugh. She also blows raspberries when I am trying to de-slime her face, it kind of defeats the purpose, at least I get the old spit off.

I did a little photo shoot of Lilly the other day and this is my favorite one, she has such beautiful hair!

Lilly sitting on the chair looking adorable, as usual!

Every time I look at Lilly I am so thankful for the most amazing, wonderful and absolutely most adorable gift we were given. Lilly is a constant reminder to me that Heavenly Father loves me and I am truly blessed.

September 21, 20006: We should probably rename this update page to "whenever Amanda has time", instead of "Weekly Updates" I have been such a slacker lately, life is so busy.  I think I am doing pretty good at planning meals and sticking to my menu at least no one is starving :) I was very proud of myself yesterday... I baked Salmon, rice and fresh rolls mmmmmm mmmmm. The salmon came from our awesome wonderful nice neighbor, he had just caught it a few days ago. Oh, and I also made chocolate cookies for desert and for Christine's birthday. Mike found the most AWESOME chocolate chip recipe when he was going to BYU. One of his co-workers made them and lucky for me Mike saved some and I got to try them! I begged Mike to get the recipe and luckily his friend handed it over. I will never go back to using the recipe on the bag of chocolate chips again!

Lilly is doing so great, she is rolling everywhere. She is realizing that there is more to life than just sitting. I am excited that she is getting mobile, but also quite nervous. She is going to be a maniac, I just know it. The other day we took her to the park and had her try the baby swings and boy did she get a thrill out of those! She is a total adrenaline junkie. I am sure Mike is happy about that, he will finally have someone to ride rollercoaster's with. I can already picture Lilly jumping off the couch, bouncing off the walls and just being a nut :)

Lately, Lilly has totally been into books. She LOVES them, especially the books with animals. I think I have Clifford's day at the farm memorized and to Lilly it never gets old.

Here is a picture of Mike and Lilly reading one of her favorite books before bedtime.

Also another thing that I have been noticing that Lilly really really really likes is fish! She totally loves her Nemo mobile in her crib and also her fish book and the last time we went to PetSmart we took a look at the fish there and she really enjoyed looking at all of the different kinds of fish. Mike and I are thinking it would be really fun to visit the Seattle Aquarium with Lilly sometime this winter.

Lilly has been making great noises lately, growling, squealing, saying nana, dada, amongst other things that I can't quite figure out. She is so chatty and happy. She also has been waving at everything, the lights, the dog, me, Mike, anyone and anything that looks at her :) My favorite wave she does is when I come to get her in the morning from her crib, she will raise both arms straight out and wiggle her arms and hands for me to pick her up.

Our prayers and thoughts and with Kaelyn as she is still recovering from her transplant surgery. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to visit that often because I have been recovering from a nasty cold - I thought Mom's weren't supposed to get sick??? Thankfully I am feel sooo much better and am planning on making a trip to Children's Hospital to visit Angie and Kaelyn soon.

August 27, 2006: It has been a fast few weeks since my last update. Everyone should of received their announcement for Lilly, if not let me know and I will put one in the mail to you pronto. Mike and I stewed for a few hours in the craft store trying to think of cute, yet inexpensive ways to make our announcement, I think it turned out perfectly. Tomorrow is my first Monday as a stay at home mom! Can you believe it, my work actually let me leave, well, I practically had to run out of the office - but I got out and am very happy with our decision. Mike made it known to me Saturday morning that he is jealous that I get to be with Lilly all day :) He is so cute I wish we both could stay at home with Lilly, we always have so much fun as a family. I am looking forward to 'trying' to plan meals and map out my days with Lilly. We are going to have great times.

Lilly had her 6-month exam on Tuesday. She is actually 7-months, but we had to delay the appointment to go to Utah. She has some new stats:

14.5lbs and 27inches long! She has met all of her developmental mile stones and the Dr. mentioned again how smart and alert Lilly is. I would have to agree, she is always looking around taking everything in. Lilly loves it when people talk to her and if you are silly enough she will give you a chuckle. She is still having some food processing issues, so we were instructed by her Dr. to give her prunes with everything... luckily she likes prunes, or at least tolerates them.

Lilly loves to stand and sit, she gets to view the world differently from those positions. I am thinking that once she builds up her muscles in her arms she will most likely just stand up and walk, she has no interest in crawling and really dislikes tummy time. I think mainly because it hurts her tummy to be on it :( She also started squealing again, it's so funny and I am glad she remembered how to do it. I think she sounds like a dolphin, she will squeal when she is happy and also when she is on the verge of crying, either way it's adorable.

We were invited to a little neighborhood BBQ on Saturday, it was so fun! We got to know a few of our neighbors better and they are such nice people. Mike and I got to bring a few veggies from our garden as a gift to the host's, they seemed impressed.  I am really enjoying our garden, even though it's small. Tonight I made a salad and everything in it (except the lettuce) was from our garden!

August 7, 2006: I can't believe it's been over a month since my last update! Many things have happened since July.  As of August 4, 2006 Lilly is legally ours, we had our court appearance on Friday and everything went great. It is wonderful to know that in a few weeks we will be able to be sealed for all time and eternity to our little bug. First though, I have to send out the announcements... I am still thinking on what to say on them and even how I am going to do them.

Lilly is also sitting up on her own now! She really started sitting on her own when we were visiting Grandma & Grandpa Y's last month. She just need a little Utah sunshine to help her sit :) Lilly has also put on a little weight as of last week she weighed in at 13.8lbs. Still pretty thin, but she is gaining so that is all that matters. Unfortunately, our trip to UT wasn't planned, we flew down to attend my Grandmother's funeral. (thank you grandpa M. for the plane tickets!) I feel so lucky to have been able to live by both sets of my grandparents through my younger years. Now 'adays families are so spread out. My grandmother's funeral services were very nice, I was given the opportunity to speak. It was a neat experience and I felt privileged to share my feelings about my grandma with everyone. It was nice to be able to see my family, though and I am really happy that Uncle Jon & Aunt Stephanie got to finally meet Lilly. Lilly really loved hanging out with Uncle Jon, she thought he was a pretty funny guy.

Uhg... Lilly is teething like crazy, she was up about every hour a few nights in a row just crying like she was in pain, it was sooooooooo sad :( Mike was a champ and took her for me a few times and they hung out on the couch and snuggled until about 4:00 AM. He did say this morning that he thinks its so cute when Lilly sleeps on his chest, ahhh how sweet - he is such a great dad.

Yes, I am STILL working! Hopefully I will be outta there in the next few weeks... I can hardly wait! Lilly and I have so much fun together and it is going to be great having her full-time.

July 2, 2006: It has been so warm and sunny this past week, I am loving it! On Thursday Lilly and I went and purchased a small swimming pool and tried it out that same afternoon. Lilly really enjoyed playing in the pool and I did too :) I am looking forward to spending more days outside in our backyard.

My work hired a replacement for me, yay! She can not start for another few weeks, but I am excited that they found someone so fast. I feel a little sad to leave such a great career (an office with a window even) However, I feel very strongly that I should be at home with Lilly. So we've gotta follow those feelings.

4th of July is a very special time for Mike and I, it's the day we met! I can hardly believe that it's been 8 years since I first was introduced to Mike... time fly's when you are having fun! I have to say that I still see fireworks with Mike and am so happy that we have begun our journey of parenthood together. I know now why it took us so long, we were waiting for little Lilly :) We had our final post-placement visit on Friday with our caseworker. She said that we will probably be all finalized by the end of July!!! I can hardly wait to be able to bless Lilly and be sealed for all time and eternity with our cutie pie. Hopefully everything will go through by the end of the month so we can still make our trip to UT to visit family the first week of August. I am really looking forward to showing Lilly off to everyone, she is such a star. We will most likely drive because airfare is so expensive, so I am a little nervous to drive that far with a little one, but it's been done before by my sister and her children, so I have faith that we can do it too :) I hope everyone has a great Independence day, I know I am thankful for our freedom to make choices, with out that freedom Lilly's birthmother wouldn't of been able to choose us to parent Lilly. Without our freedom, we wouldn't be able to practice our beliefs and have all of the great blessings we have been given.

June 23, 2006: We have great news! After begging and pleading and of course praying Mike and I have decided that we will try and live off of one income and I will become a stay at home mom.  I am thrilled to have this opportunity and am looking forward to it.  I will continue to work until a replacement is hired and I train them, so my official last day is unknown, but hopefully sooner than later.

Lilly is drooling like crazy and putting everything into her mouth lately. Her hand eye coordination is getting really sharp, she can now grab my nose and hair at the same time and boy, does she have a good grip.

June 18, 2006: Happy Father's Day! It's been a very fun day for our little family, we have had a lot of firsts this year and Father's Day for Mike is defiantly a first. I think he has enjoyed fatherhood so far, he is feeding Lilly right now talking and giggling with her. Lilly had her 5-month post adoption check up this week, all her blood work came back normal and she has gained a pound since her last appointment 3-weeks ago. Lilly now weighs 12lbs 15ozs (still in the 10th percentile for weight, but still gaining, so that's great) and is a whooping 26 inches long (95th Percentile incase you want to know). Now that all of the blood work is back Lilly's final checkup will be sent to LDS Family Services so we can come to the final stages of legal finalization. We are hoping to have everything done and final by July or August it all depends on how fast the courts are moving. I am really looking forward to having everything done so we can have her blessed in church and sealed to us forever in the temple.

June 11, 2006: It has been quite a busy week, Mike cleaned the garage, I did a cazillion loads of laundry :) and Lilly just keeps getting more cute.  On Monday's Lilly and I usually attend a Mother's group and hang out with a bunch of other Mom's from the area, it's really fun and interesting to see where everyone is in their stages. Lilly of course is the most advanced, mainly because she is the oldest baby there, but still she never ceases to amaze me.  Lilly is getting more alert and responds to most things especially when daddy is trying to make her laugh, to her, daddy is the funniest man alive. I could do the exact same thing and she will just give me the look like what the heck are you doing Mom, but when dad does it - boy she cracks up.  Lilly and I had the opportunity to visit with Aunt Angie and her cousin Kaelyn on Friday, it was great to see them. Lilly totally loves her Aunty and cousin, she stared at Kaelyn and is looking forward to painting with her some time.

Lilly is almost rolling from back to front, but not quite. She figures she can just roll onto her side and see and touch what she wanted to, so why bother finishing... she is just too smart. Lilly also got her first taste of peaches on Monday, boy did she LOVE those! She is also still loving baby oatmeal with a little banana mixed in. Mike and I also are doing a little experiment with Lilly, when she first came home we discovered she has a lactose intolerance so we put her on different formula... well.... this weekend we tried the good 'ol regular formula and it seems she doesn't have the intolerance anymore! Yay!!!! No more uber expensive formula, we are all every excited to know Lilly will be able to have ice cream someday.

May 30, 2006: Lilly is silent squealing, she'll go to squeal higher than she can and it will just come out all airy. She also has discovered the world of books, Lilly loves to be read to and likes to help turn the pages and touch and sometimes lick the books.

May 22, 2006: Lilly is almost dragging herself on her tummy, she also is 'talking' so much more, it's cute :) Oh, and she is grabbing everything including her own hair and ears.
Lilly sleeps great at night, but no napping during the day unless someone is holding her. She got her first taste of breast milk this weekend and LOVED it. I am so excited, she gets 2 feedings a day of breast milk., thanks to a wonderful woman in our ward who just had a baby.
Lilly had her 4-month check up on Thursday. She weighed in at 11lbs 12oz and 26 inches long! the dr. mentioned how alert and advanced she is for her age, I am proud :)

May 17, 2006: My friend from church is really into making baby slings and carriers and she made me a Mei Tai, it is so cool! It matches my diaper bag (my pride and joy) perfectly too! It's nice to have friends that are crafty, as I am not. Lilly found her voice this weekend... she squealed nonstop all day on Sunday & Monday. She has tapered the squealing down some and is just agooing and make cute noises. She also is getting really strong and when we do sit ups she can pretty much hold her neck straight. Oh, and she is getting better at hand eye coordination, she can grab things sometimes and put them in her mouth :) We tried feeding Lilly rice cereal with a spoon and also some pears, she loves it! Last week the Y. Grandparents came to visit and I think they would agree that Lilly is the cutest! My mom kept commenting on what a good baby she is, I'd have to agree she has such a sweet funny personality.  Lilly also got to meet her Aunt Liz for the first time!

May 4, 2006: We had our 2nd post placement social worker visit today. It went great, the social worker kept saying how much Lilly looks like me and then how cute Lilly is.

April 26, 2006: Mike is pretty much done with the closet remodel, it looks great! All we have left to do is finish smoothing out the ceiling in the closet and doing some minor touch up paint. I am happy that I finally have a closet with a door after not having one for 2 years.

April 25, 2006: Someone brought their twins in to work today!!!! AHHHHHH SO cute, they are only 4 days younger than Lilly!!! Although, Lilly is cuter :) :) Just seeing babies makes me want to run home and give Lilly a little squeeze :) I think I am officially wrapped around her little finger.

April 24, 2006: I bought Lilly a Be'Be' Pod yesterday. Lilly likes it, however she is so skinny I had to pad the sides with some blankies so she would stay upright. She watch her Baby Einstein in it and thought she was pretty cool :) At the store that I bought the pod at I could of spent A LOT of money. It was such a cool store, although their prices were not good at all. I found a really cute outfit for Lilly, but it was $71! Can you believe that! I didn't buy anything else, but boy did I want to :)

April 18, 2006: Lilly loves to kick she is going to be one great soccer player, runner, ballerina and swimmer :) She also has been trying to rollover from her tummy to her back going left, she already rolls going right. Naptime during the day is still a struggle, my princess must be held and snuggled during the day while she sleeps, I don't mind at all either :)

April 14,2006: My diaper bag got mailed yesterday!!!!!! I love this bag, I can't wait to use it and feel all cool carrying it around in ritzy Woodinville.

April 11, 2006: Lilly has discovered her hands and has been sucking on her fingers nonstop. She also likes to blow spit bubbles. Lilly is sleeping great at night, we get her to sleep around 8:00 PM and she'll wake up once around 2:00 AM for a snack and back to sleep until 5:30 AM, when she does wake up in the morning she is always in a terrific mood.

March 25, 2006: We bought Lilly a toy today! She LOVES it and has been kicking and having a good time playing with it. We also switched Lilly's Acid reflux medicine and it seems to help her a little better than the other stuff she was on. Steve & Christine were placed with a baby!!!! Yay!! They named her Belle Sara, she was born on March 22, 2006.

March 21, 2006: Lilly is in constant motion, even in her sleep. She is also very talkative, we have been having very deep philosophical discussions.  We also switched Lilly's formula and she is feeling tons better, lactose and soy are not our friends right now.  Mike's brother, Steve and his wife Christine have been matched with a birthmother! They stopped by this weekend to share the wonderful news with us. To say the least we are thrilled for them, there is NOTHING better than being a mommy and daddy.

March 4, 2006: Lilly rolled over for the first time today! Mike was at Home Depot, so I was the only  one to witness this little miracle. Fortunately, she has been rolling over ever since.

March 2, 2006: 2-month appointment and also 4 shots to the thigh :( Lilly is growing like a champ, she weighed in at 9lbs 6ozs and is 22.75 inches long! (tall and skinny)

February 27, 2006: Lilly is smiling and also does a pretend cough when she wants your attention. Mike and I also celebrated our 7-year wedding anniversary. We went to the Seattle Temple and then to Babies-r-Us for a little shopping, Lilly loves to shop.

February 22, 2006:  It is defiantly life changing to have a baby, I love every minute of it. I am pretty tired though, and it shows through my socks :) I accidentally put on Santa Claus socks this morning, it was dark and the socks are black (but they have bright green, red and blue Santa's on them)

Mike sprained his ankle really bad last week so this weekend I was taking care of two babies! Mike is doing a lot better, but is still limping a little, but luckily the swelling went down so it's not broken. Between me falling on Tuesday and Mike hurting his ankle on Wednesday we are lucky nothing else happened.

February 14th & 15th: Round two and three of the baby showers! My visiting teachers held a baby shower for me on the 15th and my work held the biggest pot luck I have ever seen, along with oodles of gifts for Lilly. Everyone here is very giving, we received sooooo many great gifts. My Pathfinder was literally full! One of the other admins asked me if I was always going to work part-time, I said unless they make me come back full-time. Which is soooo true! I hope I never have to come back 5 days a week, I think I would have to look for another job. I can't bare to leave Lilly as it is..
Lilly had her first bath last night, sooooo fun. Mike took a few pictures and some hilarious video...

I hurt my knee yesterday, I was walking from the employee parking garage lugging the diaper bag and Lilly in her car seat and I tripped on my own foot (I think) and BAM fell face forward. Luckily my knee saved Lilly and my face as my knee hit the ground first. But MAN ALIVE it kills me today. Ironic that I was walking to a hospital, lucky that I didn't have to go there to be treated. So I may be a mom now, but I am still a klutz.  Also, I think I ruined my favorite jeans during the fall, the knee I fell on is rather thin now and I think is going to rip soon wahhhhhhhhh!

February 8, 2006: Lilly is the most beautiful baby I have ever laid eyes on :)
We are slowly figuring parenthood out - last week I rushed Lilly to the dr. to find out she is lactose intolerant, so we switched to soy. It is amazing how much more pleasant Lilly is, before she had a tummy ache and wasn't poohing (yes, I just typed poohing)it was so sad :( She is doing much better now.

January 31, 2006: I started working again today :( Not sure what to feel, I was so sad leaving Lilly this morning, but also feel so blessed that Grandma C. is able to watch and care for her during the day. Lilly's Aunt Kathy is at home too and is really excited to help watch the lilmiester too :) I know that Mike's mom will do an awesome job with Lilly, but I wish it was me :( I do enjoy being at work, it's nice to talk to 'grownups' but I really don't mind goo gooing all day either. :P

January 22, 2006: The past 2 weeks have been so busy. My parents arrived at our house on Wednesday night and left this morning. I am so glad that they got to meet Lilly. They both are very smitten with her :) She is defiantly a cutie pie. My wonderful friend Janelle and my sister, Angie, threw Lilly and I a baby shower yesterday. It was so much fun! We received so many great gifts and people actually brought 3-6 month size clothes instead of newborn sizes which will be nice in a few months :)

I really want to stay at home with Lilly, but we just can't afford it right now. Especially since we adopted so quickly w/out much warning for our savings plan. Since we were told to plan on waiting for 2 years.... at least I have a great boss who is letting me work part-time, hopefully forever.

January 9, 2006: Lilly Grace was born last night! Mike and I are on pins and needles to see if we will become her parents tomorrow.
